Excitement is building for Schroon's first ever Opening Weekend, and the list of events and happenings seems to be growing by the day. Hundreds -- if not thousands -- of visitors are expected to descend upon our fair twon, attracted by the Tribute To The Troops concert, Summer Expo, Blessing of The Boats, The Lions Club Auction, The Boy Scout Pan Cake Breakfast and all weekend long Captain's Specials at area restaurants and garage sales throughout the community. This program is designed for children and their parents and will meet twice a month through September. Activities include planting and harvesting from the community garden plot, learning about soil and insects as well as the interrelation of plants, animals and humans. Free! Curtis Becraft, a musician and song-writer with long-standing ties to Schroon Lake (Chris was once a lifeguard at the beach!) will perform a mix of Americana, folk, 60s, blues and jazz, starting out with Songs for Children at 11:30 am and a Song Circle for all ages at 1:00 pm, both events will be at the bandstand. Singing along is highly encouraged!

Summer Expo (on Main Street and in the Town Park)

2 pm to 8 pm

Dozens of vendors have signed up. The Schroon Lake Chamber is accepting registrations for vendors, artists, crafters, and community organizations to have booth space at the Expo, which will include Main Street and the Town Park. Main Street Businesses will also be participating

Visit Ms. Barker and Mr. Riddle at the Expo to learn about all the details of the Trout Project they've been working on with the students.

Motorized Boat Parade and Blessing of the Fleet

It's free to be in the boat parade, and if you decorate your boat, you could win Best Pirate Ship, Funniest Boat or Best Adirondack Style Boat.

The Steven L. Smith Band performs Adirondack country and blues, telling the modern story of our region and beyond. Their music has reached millions of people around the world using simple, meaningful lyrics and danceable melodies. The Band's slogan is "Live Free and Love Music," echoing their Adirondack roots.
