Count Down To July 4th Celebration: The Basket Edition

There are so many traditions that go with a Schroon Lake 4th of July – and we are not just talking about the parade and fireworks.

Whether it be watching the parade the same place every year, and claiming that spot early, to eating certain foods, many traditions go with this big day.

And as we count down to this big day, there’s one tradition that has quite a following: The famous Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce Basket Raffle. (The proceeds of the raffle go to running the Chamber, where you can buy tickets).

Every year around 40 baskets are up for grabs, supplied by locals and area businesses. The first of those baskets are arriving at the chamber and the one we spotted last week was a beauty. “Surviving a Rainy day In Schroon” was donated by Nancy Belluscio, from the Tumble Inn Bed and Breakfast.

It includes the following: Puzzle Cube, Catch ball, Bible Crads games,  Phase 10, Monopoly Board Game, Pencils, Marbles,  Word Search Book, DVD – The Great Outdoors, Modeling Clay, Whac-a-nole cards. Beads,  Swedish Fish, Maple Candy, Cookies n Creambites, Mike and Ike, plastic poncho, Snoopy Toy and  Duck soap.
