Farm Fresh From Schroon

Besides our terrific Farmer’s Market every Monday, there are several local farms that are worth checking out. One of our favorites is Hayfelds Farm stand, run by Dan and Anna Hayfeld. It’s stocked with carrots, beets, zucchini, lettuce, radishes, basil, mint, jellies and firewood

And fresh for today: mint and basil. Head north on Rt 9 to their roadside stand. It’s two miles north of the flashing light on Route 74 on the left. Looking for some yummy, fresh bacon? Sugarbush Farms has organically raised pork, chicken and eggs. There are veggies and also an orchid!. The farm is located at  40 Continental Drive. 518-532-9539.

And if you have never tasted buffalo  -- you are depriving your taste buds. At the The Adirondack Buffalo Company, owned and operated by Dorreen and Steve Ossenkop, you can get buffalo steaks, burgers and other cuts of their delicious American bison.

From Memorial Day weekend through late October they are open seven days a week from 10 am until 6 pm.  3187 Blue Ridge Road, North Hudson. 518 532-9466

The weekly Farmer’s Market runs every Monday through the summer from 9 am - 1pm on the lawn outside the Town Hall. Got a local Farm we don’t know about? Tell us in comments.
