Schroon Laker, mother, farmer, runner, flash mob instigator, and all around fitness guru Anna Hay (in the middle) is enthusiastic about everything she does!
And the latest chapters in that God blessed life have ranged from a massive weight loss, to her new gig: becoming a certified Zumba instructor. Now Anna has recently been certified to teach a special type of Zumba. It's for Baby Boomers, and its known as Zumba Gold.
Zumba Gold takes the fast paced Zumba formula and slightly modifies the moves and pacing for the 'boomer set.
What stays the same, says Anna, are all the elements the Zumba fitness party is known for: the zesty Latin music of salsa, merengue, cumbia and reggaeton, the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere. Hee Haw!
Anna says it’s the perfect fit for active older adults who want camaraderie, excitement and fitness on a regular basis.
Zumba and Schroon are no strangers. Cathy Peace, who has been teaching in Schroon for the last couple of years and Janet Fish and Anna all share a Facebook Page where they post their schedules and updates.
Where and When: Zumba Gold classes this coming Monday (3/11/13). Schroon Lake Senior Center from 1:00-2:00. Cost is $3 for Senior Center members and $5 for walk ins. You can email Anna at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
