Throw Back Thursday: July, 1951 Edition
/The year was 1951. Postage was 3 cents, Nat King Cole sang Unforgettable, the first NBA All-Star game was played in the Boston Garden, The trial of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg begins, Walt Disney's 13th animated film, Alice in Wonderland, premieres in London, United Kingdom and U.S. President Harry Truman declares an official end to war with Germany. Wow!
And in Schroon Lake -- the joint was a jumpin'. At least that's what we've gleaned from the weekly calendar, which featured advertisements for movies, restaurants, dances and scenic air flights.
Samson and Delilah played at the Paramount and Fabiola played at The Strand.
We recently came across this poster at the Schroon lake Chamber of Commerce, a gift from the Schroon Lake Post Office, where it had been hiding for many years.
