The Simply Stunning 2013 SLAC Season
/by Jane Demaio
This summer there will be two events for children, a sing-a-long in late July and a production of “The Secret Garden” by the Hampstead Stage Company in August. There is no cost for the children or adults.
Since 2008, SLAC has been hosting Monday night Jams between 7:00pm and 10:00pm in the Boat House, each June through September. This night started to encourage all local residents to develop their interests in music, and to provide an opportunity to display their talents. Up to 19 adult and child musicians and singers attend regularly each Monday evening, including visitors from near and far -- last year the jam featured a flutist from Beaudeaux, France, who played the Indian Flute! All are welcome to this free event!
SLAC is pleased to receive funding from sources such as The Town of Schroon, The Chamber of Commerce, Stewarts Stores and The Glens Falls National Bank. Memberships and donations also help sustain this organization.
While SLAC has a hard-working Board of Directors, they could not do this work without members and volunteers. Volunteering for SLAC is easy and fun. There are many tasks such as ticket-taking, greeting at the Farmer's Market, set-up and tear-down at the Folk Fest, selling water at concerts, assisting performers and putting up posters. Please call Patti Rapoport (518-53-9986) if you have a spare hour or two in the summer. There will be a meeting of volunteers this month. SLAC could use your help. You can email SLAC here, for more details
