ZUMBA IN THE PARK
/Tonight's one hour class starts at 6:30 pm with Anna Bentley Hay, gently warming up the crowd with 15 minutes of Zumba Gold.
"Zumba Gold is for those just starting out on their fitness journey, who may not want to rush into the high impact of regular Zumba," Anna told Schroon Laker today.
"It's for everyone, especially the active older generation."
After Anna warms up the crowd, instructor Cathy Peace takes over with a 30 minute set of regular, high energy Zumba. Anna winds the class down for the last 15 minutes.
"It's a really fun night out," Anna said. "I really want to encourage families to come out. It would be great if kids can jump in and do some of our dances."
The idea for Free Zumba in the Park came from Cathy Peace. "Cathy had giving demonstrations over the last two Memorial Day Opening Weekends and they were very successful. It was a great way to introduce newbies to what Zumba is all about."
So it was a natural -- in a town know for it's free summer traditions -- The Boat Houe Band Jam on Mondays and the Town Square dance on Wednesdays -- that Zumba would be a natural fit.
"It's very therapeutic. You will leave feeling in a better mood, beside having a great workout. It's not just physical, but mental, it perks you up".
Will we see you there tonight?
