Family Reunited With Lost Dog

Sometimes it takes a village -- and the power of the Internet -- to make good things happen.

That was the case yesterday, here at SchroonLaker.com, when we got a tip from readers Theresa and Dick Symansk.

The couple had been caring for a dog they had found on Rt. 9 between Witherbees and Charlie Hill Rd on afternoon of 7/4.  They described the dog as an older golden mix. We put up the alert in our Lost And Hound story.

We later learned from David Peterson, who runs the Schroon Lake Facebook Page, about a family who had lost a dog. We reposted David’s tip and a photo of the lost dog here on Schroon Laker. See post below

Turns out…you guessed it…the dog Theresa and Dick Symansk had found was the one that was missing. His name is Hunter, and he hails from Greenville, NY.

We got the happy news last night from our neighbor and avid reader Linda Milson:

I want to thank Mr. Symans and schroonlaker.com for posting the article regarding the lost dog which belongs to some friends from Greenville, N.Y. that are visiting Schroon Lake.
The dog ran away on Wednesday and the children were very distraught. When other attempts to find her failed, I looked at the website and was thrilled to see the posting. The family was reunited with their dog this morning and the children can now enjoy the rest of their vacation.
Thank you to the Symans for taking Hunter in and giving her such good care. Great job, Anthony!
