Schroon Lake Jazz Fest

The 2nd Annual Schroon Lake Jazz Festival kicks off tonight (Tuesday, August 20) with a big concert at the Boathouse Theatre.

Performing tonight at 8pm will be Shelia Jordan and Cameron Brown,  the ADHD Singers, Amy London, Damon Meader, Holli Ross and Dylan Pramuk with the trio: James Weidman, piano, Cameron Brown, bass, and Steve Williams, Drums. 

It’s all part of the Amy London Jazz Camp being held at the Seagle Music Colony, where jazz vocalists get to work with some of the top jazz performers in this country.

This year’s trio has an impeccable pedigree. Steve Williams accompanied the legendary singer/pianist Shirley Horn for 28 years. Together they performed round the globe, recorded 15 albums, and garnered a Grammy for ‘Here’s To Life’ (Verve).

Bassist Cameron Brown has played in the voice + bass setting with beloved NEA Jazz Master Vocalist Sheila Jordan since the mid-90’s, and appears on more than 200 albums. And pianist James Weidman, who accompanied Abbey Lincoln for 6 years, amongst other renowned jazz singers such as Cassandra Wilson, Kevin Mahogany and Dakota Staton, is a sensitive, swinging and creative accompanist and arranger.

This Saturday night the students perform solo and alongside their teachers in another concert at the Boathouse. also at 8pm.  There will be two instrumental concerts at the Boathouse: August 27 at 8pm and September 1st @2PM
