Summer Ain't Over: Not By A Long Shot...

One of the secret little engines that helps run Schroon -- The Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce -- are determined to make this summer, one to remember.

With their annual Labor Day Street Dance and Fire Works, the soon to be here Labor Day Weekend, should not be seen as an end to the Summer, but a kick off party to the Fall.

And for those Summer folks here right now, who somehow think that Schroon is a place that just rolls up the sidewalks and calls it quits after Labor Day, think again.

The Labor Day weekend is jammed packed with activities: starting with a town-wide garage sale in the Park, our famous Street Dance featuring the Master Cylinders and what it expected to be a gang-buster fireworks show. (Two floats chock full of fireworks!)

Also that weekend there will be two screenings of the documentary, The Mountains Will Wait For you -- a bio picture about the late Grace Hudowolski, a pioneering 46er who lived out her later years in Schroon Lake.

On Sunday there's the annual Duck Race, to benefit the Schroon Lake Association.

"It's going to be a big weekend for sure,"  Chamber spokesman Rosemarie Ritson told Schroon Laker today.

"This will be our 9th Street Dance so folks from here and nearby know about it and make plans to attend".

There's also the return visit of Hammel on Trial Live,  at the Timberwolf, on September 1, with Curtis Becraft opening.

After Labor Day folks should start planning on coming back for an entire fall leaf peeping and hiking season., The 1-Eyed Bike Classic, the Adirondack Marathon and Distance Festival, featuring the Adirondack Marathon, and a whole lot more. Check out our CALENDAR section for all of the key dates.
