Kevin John (Coon) Bessette

Kevin John (Coon) Bessette, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer Monday, Aug. 12, 2013. He was 53-years-old.

Kevin lived and grew up in Schroon Lake. He was most recently employed at JC Cooper’s Lumber in Chestertown, N.Y. More from the Poststar:

Kevin was born Jan. 28, 1960, in Southbridge, Mass. He was the son of Marion Howe Bessette.

Kevin was predeceased by his sister, Lisa, and his grandparents, Smith and Helen Howe.

Kevin lived and grew up in Schroon Lake. He was most recently employed at JC Cooper’s Lumber in Chestertown, N.Y.

Kevin was a self-taught photographer and artist. He loved to take pictures of the sunrise and sunsets. His favorite place to take photos was Alaska. He loved nature and the peace it gave him.

Kevin loved skiing, hiking, fishing and camping. He loved nothing better than to sit around a campfire with friends.

Kevin was one of those rare totally selfless people. He was always glad to give of his time and talents to help family and friends with anything.

In addition to his mother, Kevin is survived by his twin sister, Kathy (Jerry) Hayes of Brant Lake; his brother, Clark (Brandi) Bessette of Thurman; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog, Bear.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013, at Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 U.S. Route 9, Schroon Lake.

Interment will follow in Schroon Lake Community Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
