The Lighthouse Goes Dark
/Bob Karaffa captured the iconic Word of Life Lighthouse, which shines brightly during the summer months, just before it was taken out of service for the winter.
Bob's shot is simply stunning, showing the golden sun hitting the tall pines on the southern most point of the island. Above, you can see several layers of misty blues, browns and grays of the High Peaks, topped off by powder puff pinkish white clouds.
To the left of frame are lush trees and grassy knoll near the town beach, dotted by the wooden lifesaver's tower and a couple of Adirondack chairs. That blue, blue water sure looks inviting.
