This year’s 3rd Annual Schroon Chili Cook-Off could be the biggest ever. That’s the hope of organizer Shelby Davis, who is “very happy” about the number of early entrants that have signed up for the event.

“To have 11 confirmed chili entrants this early is very encouraging,” Shelby told Schroon Laker. “And what’s more encouraging is that I have had inquiries from restaurants as far south as Glens Falls”.

And expanding the cook-off’s reach was exactly what Shelby was hoping for – making it a much bigger contest.

Shelby believes the early sign up discount may also have been an incentive.

Besides restaurants and home-cooks, Shelby is hoping that the cook-off will attract more area Fire Departments and EMS squads.

“We know there are some great tasting chilis out there from these great cooks – we want them in our contest.”

Early registration is just $20 until January 31 – after it’s $30. Registration closes on February 15. And you can make a tax-deductible donation to help sponsor the event: Trophy sponsor @ $50, community sponsor @ $100, marketing or entertainment sponsor $250. For more information, click here.

“Money raised and all donations are tax deductible and will help the Schroon EMS squad attend training, purchase materials and gear,” Shelby said. To find out who is in the cook-off, check out our full list in our Food and Drink section.
