John King: From Schroon Lake to Washington

One of the most polarizing figures in the New York State Education System – commissioner John King, who riled up Schroon Lakers with his presentation of the common core curriculum, is leaving his post.

NCPR reports King is leaving after five-and-half years to join the Obama Administration, to become assistant US education secretary under Arne Duncan.  In an interview with public radio and TV, he says he hopes his legacy in New York will be his intense focus on getting the Common Core learning standards started in the state.
