Ice Still Not Out: But For How Long?

While large sections of the lake have iced out -- there are a lot of folks wanting to know when one particular section will go under. They are the ticket holders in the annual Schroon Lions Club Ice Out Contest -- where participants try and guess the exact time and date a Star Wars like movie prop (pictured above) hits the water.

From the Lions:

"Some folks asking about the IceOut device... Lake is open at north and south end but still "iced in" in the middle. Location is north of Narrows across from Witherbee's Steakhouse... Warm sun and steady breeze will do the trick; just don't know when. Thanks again to all the ticket buyers for your support."
