Schroon Laker #TBT: The Answer!

From: Ann Breen Metcalfe:

“Looks like Clautice's in Paradox. Ah, those were the days. Think the couple at the end of the bar facing the photographer are M/M Tom Werner. Blonde Bette Burnell and Tom went together all through high school. Both became teachers at Schroon Lake Central School, Tom in Guidance and Bette in Home Economics.

Bette died some years ago; Tom still spends summers in SL. Teddy C. will know the date; I would place it in the early 1950s. Schroon Lake's Chamber of Commerce had dances at Clautice's, and it was popular with the summer people and locals. Also the camp counselors in the days when there were camps all around”.

The keen eye of Schroon Laker.com reader “MHM identified these details in the photo:

“Now that is one happy buck hanging on that wall with all those seductive two legged doe. There is a Budweiser sign (upper left) and a Schaefer tap handle behind Mr. Tuxedo. This is a great picture”.

And a detail that was bought to our attention by Teddy Clautice last summer -- who provided us with all of the photos on this page --  the numerous nude and semi-nude pictures on the wall at the end of the bar! Somehow, in this day and age, we think there would be lawsuits filed -- or people arrested -- if any Schroon Lake watering hole was to feature such art work.
