ADK Shakes, Schroon and Scaroon
/On Sunday, Schroon’s own ADK Shakes performs Henry IV, Part 2 at Scaroon Manor. The venue has played a big part in the young company’s history. They have staged multiple productions since 2009 in what remains of the amphitheater, as well as actively bringing attention to this historic site. That’s largely in part because of the connection ADK Shakes director Patrick Siler has with the one time grand resort. As a kid, in the summer Patrick would canoe over and explore the derelict remains of the what few structures remained. In the winter, he'd cross-country skied there.
Patrick, his partner Tara Bradway and ADK Shakes are devoted to seeing the performance space renovated to its former glory. Now , The Shakespeare Company is the official steward of the amphitheater.
We recently caught up with Patrick to talk about how he got involved with this mission and what role Scaroon Manor played in the formation of ADK Shakes. You can read our interview in our History and Fun Facts section.
