Schroon Lake sure knows how to throw a party, and attract a great group of partiers. Saturday night they kicked summer out the door, with music, mayhem and a terrific fireworks show.

After the big Town Garage sale on the lawn of the park above the beach, Main Street (and Route 9 establishments) shops and restaurants were hopping, from as far south as the Paradox Brewery, to Drake’s Restaurant north of town. Late afternoon live music outside The Strand and later at Witherbee’s had folks dancing!. But it was the big show, on Dock Street, attended by hundreds that had the town hopping.

The rockers from Master Cylinders, had all ages on their feet, cranking out some superb covers. This is a band that never disappoints – playing a two hour plus show, right up until the Big Bang show.

As the band rocked on , just feet away a fire thrower had the crowd mesmerized , as he lit up the night sky.

But once again it was the fireworks show – this year made possible by locals who dug deep into their pockets, and area businesses -- that stole the show.

But the good times are far from over. In the weeks ahead we are looking forward to the Lance Gregson 1-Eyed Classic, bike ride, more ADK Shakes shows, the annual Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club Chicken and Lobster Roast, and the Adirondack Marathon weekend.

And if you’ve loved Schroon in the Summer, come back for our fabulous changing of the leaves, hiking and lake – you can still swim until October.
