More from SLA President Mark Granger:

“LaMere has spent nearly 2 decades on our lake and serves as the SLA’s main advisor on Lake Management issues. Lieberum is managing the $175,000 project to reduce the flow of storm water runoff from Rt. 9 into the lake. Lewis is conducting invasive harvesting in the lake under Bombard’s supervision. Reckhan is also involved with battling runoff and pollutants at the northern end of the watershed. It is a rare treat to have these dedicated and talented folks all together. They will also talk about next year’s septic system pump out program for the northern end of Schroon Lake. Don’t miss this chance to be informed and to ask questions.

Looking back over July I must express my gratitude and appreciation to Georgia Burkhardt and Chuck Harste and their Committee for a wonderful 46th Annual Craft Fair. With over 100 exhibitors, hundreds of attendees shopped, looked, ate and enjoyed themselves in the park above our beautiful Beach. Local musicians entertained and the weather, once again, cooperated.

Our first Member Meeting on July 11 featured Hilary Smith talking about invasives. Hilary has been in the papers and news a lot lately on the fight against invasive species and most recently was part of a press conference with US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand about Federal efforts on invasives.

A very touching Memorial Service was held July 26th for our old friend Arnold Paglia. A fine gentleman and a great supporter of the SLA, his personality and his efforts will be missed. Your help is needed for Labor Day Weekend Fireworks. The Town is $4000 short, despite a $1000 grant from Stewarts. We have 10 days to raise it. Please drop a check off at Town Hall or the Chamber of Commerce payable to the Town of Schroon. If for some reason we don’t make it, the money will go into the July 4th fireworks package next year.

I hope you have seen our July Newsletter featuring articles about our lake and our members. If you did not get it, please check your junk mail because it was big. It is also on our website. Please let me know if you are a member and did not get it electronically or by mail. Our Editor, Bill Trombley, did a great job.

Finally, if you haven’t done so, please renew your membership and consider making an enhanced gift at our various membership levels. Please also make sure we have your email. A membership form is attached to this Telegram. Your help and support keeps us going. We will spend over $22,000 this year protecting the lake.

Enjoy the rest of the Summer!
