Big Shindig This Weekend: On Schroon’s East Side

Save the date: This Saturday, when “Eastside” Schroon Lakers throw one big party. The event is the "Adirondack Shindig - Preserving and Jammin' on Church Street", and is cosponsored by several local businesses.

The owners of Adirondack Home Watch and the Adirondack General Store are among many folks coordinating  the event, which they hope will become an annual tradition.

The bash includes a street dance and block party with live music with City Limits and a cookout on Saturday, August 9th from 5 to 8 pm.

That follows the 15th annual Adirondack Yard Sale, to  be held  from rom 9 am to 3 pm at the Ball Field.

From Kathy Hill, of ADK Homewatch, one of the organizers:

“This event will  be a fund raiser to benefit the preservation of the Horicon Historical Museum Annex right here in the hamlet of Adirondack. Last Winter the building sustained severe foundation damage and we are all pulling together to secure the funds to "keep her around". Peggy Munson and Janet VanRoss from the ADK Yard Sale are 100% on board with the addition of our new event.  All of us are hoping to build off their hugely successful yard sale.  This year the benefactor of the ADK  Yard Sale proceeds will be the East Shore Schroon Lake Association ESSLA”.

From Jane Smith, President of ESSLA:

“We will have a sales table of donated goods so bring your items to our booth if you’d like to donate. There’ll be ESSLA booths selling maple syrup and giving away education. A great, fun way to support the lake and river”.

The dance party is sponsored by local businesses, with free admission, but donations will be welcome.
