The amazing journey, bringing the pristine art deco cinema into the digital age, was long and hard, with hundreds of folks banding together to raise the much needed funds for cinema owners Larry and Liz McNamara, to continue to realize their dream.

Liz and Larry were featured on Channel 10, talking about the efforts to Save The Strand.

Folks who got a sneak peek at the new digital screen and surround sound system this week were stunned with just how great everything looked and sounded.

For months, Larry and his crew have worked long and tireless hours to meet the July deadline of opening The Strand’s doors.

The amazing Emily Rossi-Snook and scores of supporters rallied behind the effort to keep those doors open with the Save The Strand Committee. Before the fund raising goal was finally reached, Emily wrote about the importance of why saving The Strand is so important, which you can read by clicking here.

There was an impressive  grass roots effort to raise funds to save the strand, which you can read about here and here.

So a huge congrats to all who made this happen. This gem ensures the economic viability of Main Street Schroon, and will help contribute to bring thousands of dollars to our town’s bars, restaurants and stores, as well as continue a decades old Summer tradition.

We will have more from Larry and Liz later this week.
