Fireworks set off at the town beach before the official Schroon display on July 4th struck a 3-three-year-old girl, and sent others running for cover, according to various reports.

CBS Channel 6 and the Post Star say the girl, from Glens Falls, suffered a shoulder injury and had her hair singed when the firework came directky at her and the group she was with.

From the Post Star:

"State Police responded to the beach at about 8 p.m. for a report of reckless use of fireworks, according to a news release. Ki K. Kim, 46, of Bardonia, in Rockland County, allegedly set off the fireworks that singed the girl’s hair and cut her shoulder. The girl’s name was not released. Kim was charged with misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of fireworks. Kim was arraigned in Schroon Town Court and released on $750 cash bail. Kim is due back in court on Aug. 26".

From eyewitness Stephanie DeZalia, via Facebook: "The four of us were sitting about 10 feet from where he put it on the ground...they came right at us too... we quickly jumped up and moved away...we were lucky...but they did go right at others walking by and at someones truck that was parked there as well. Watched as people angered and approached him...we left with the rain...glad that something was done about this".
