Giddy Up For Gokey’s

If it’s the second Saturday of Spring – then it’s auction time: and Gokey’s are starting off with a humdinger to get kick off the 2016 season.

Among the more than 500 items up for grabs this Saturday (May 14) are two buggies, a canoe, a ton of ephemera, original, vintage advertising signs, furniture, (including tables and assorted chairs), artworks,  Duck Hunting Stamps, crockery and a good smattering of tools.

And regular auction goers will notice a few changes this year, according to John Gokey.

Their auctions will no longer be held in the large building to the left of their main year round store. “This year all auctions will be under tents. It will give us a lot more room. It was often tight quarters inside, plus with the nice weather, it makes sense to be under a tent.

The contents come from the Wright Family Estate, Cascade Lake Inn, Lake Placid, partial contents of a Ticonderoga home plus a large consignment of new tools and hardware from a downstate distributor.

The former auction space is now part of their year-round Outlet Store has been converted to house more retail items, says Jean Gokey. “We ran out of space in the main building and there’s more room in here for us to display our items”.

Among the goods featured are a selection of country themed home furnishing items, Christmas decorations and assorted chachkies.
