Cheers to the Schroon Lake Wine & Liquor Store

With this holiday weekend about to hit top gear, thirsty readers take note: after months of a drought with the absence of a local liquor store, there is good news.

Local Jared Doyle recently opened the doors to his well-stocked, brightly lit showroom of booze, in a spot once known for stinky bait and and an even stinkier  bobcat! (That would be the former Bobcat Sports on Route 9, just south of the Schroon Lake village).

The store opened in April after a mighty dry spell, when The Hanchett’s liquor store  next to the post office near Tops, closed its doors well over a year ago.

There is an amazing back-story as to how Jared, whose wife happens to be Becky, the Schroon Lake pharmacist, came to be the proprietor of this new and most welcomed business.  We’ll have that story for you next week.

In the meantime, we didn’t want our readers, returning for the season to miss this news. On na recent visit we were very impressed with the selections of both wines and liquor -- not just a couple of one type of varietal, but many, many choices, in different sizes and price

The store is now open Monday to Saturday, 11 am – 7 pm and Sunday, from 12 pm to 6 pm. Cheers to Jared and the best of luck in your new endeavor!
