Rest in Peace Betty F. Tyrrell: 1930 - 2017

We are just leaning of the passing of Betty Tyrrell, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 at the Moses Ludington Nursing Home in Ticonderoga.

A memorial service will be held tomorrow, Saturday, November 11, at 11 am, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 999 US Rt. 9 in Schroon Lake. Interment will follow in the Severance Cemetery.

From Betty’s official obit:

“Betty was born April 24, 1930 in Port Henry, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helena Blanchard Forgette.

In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert L. Tyrrell Sr.; her granddaughter, Helena Buhler; and several sisters and brothers.

Betty was an excellent cook and a former employee at Pitkin’s Restaurant in Schroon Lake at Frontier Town, as head chef in the restaurant in North Hudson, and at Jean Egan’s Originals Christmas decoration manufacturing shop in Schroon Lake.

Betty enjoyed painting, needle work, knitting and crocheting, and was a nature lover.

She is survived by her son, Gilbert L. (Lanny) Tyrrell, Jr. of Metairie, Louisiana; her daughter, Deborah Buhler of Schroon Lake; her grandchildren, Steven Tyrrell, Christina Bennett and Michael and Mary Elizabeth Buhler; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Charlene Phinney of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews and cousins”.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 999 US Rt. 9 in Schroon Lake. Interment will follow in the Severance Cemetery. The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to the Schroon Lake Emergency Squad, Schroon Lake, NY 12870. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, 1019 US Rt. 9, Schroon Lake, NY.
