The SLA, the PLA and ESSLA have banded together to give the Town of Schroon a state of the art Boat Decontamination Station. This station is totally recycling and will remove all invasives, including seeds and larvae including those of Asian clams, zebra mussels and spiny water flea, which are not in our watershed but are in Lakes Champlain and George. It is an expensive proposition-$24,000 for the machine and $12,000 to operate it this year. But, it is critical to protect our lakes. It will be used for northern Schroon Lake and Paradox Lake, supplementing the Decon Machine on the southern end of Schroon in Horicon. We hope you will make a generous contribution towards this. Watch for more news on this.

*AND THE USUAL LAKE PROTECTION:
SLA continues to help the Town pay for Lake Stewards. Our Lake Manager Steve LaMere is working on some important projects to preserve and protect the watershed at SLA expense. SLA CSLAP volunteers continue to take samples of the Lake for processing and testing, adding to our over 25 years of testing records. Bob Bombard and Nick Rowell continue their SLA sponsored scuba patrol of the lake, looking for invasives and new challenges to the water quality. Construction of storm water runoff control structures continues near Town Hall. These are paid for by a grant SLA helped obtain. We also hope to expend the Lake Management Plan to cover the whole watershed, including Paradox and North Hudson. We will seek more grants.

All this takes money and time. Thanks for volunteering to help. Thanks for making the best monetary contributions you can".

Enjoy the summer!
