We are saddened to report the passing of Eric Wemett on November 3. Eric fought a courageous battle against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home, in Schroon Lake.

From the official obit:

“Eric was born in Ticonderoga, the son of Alan H. and Ruth (Pecor) Wemett of Schroon Lake. He was a graduate of Schroon Lake Central School and BOCES. His true passion in life was to help others.

Eric was predeceased by his sisters, Ronna J. Wemett and Leslie J. Lydon (Wemett).

Eric previously served his communities as a volunteer fireman in Schroon Lake and Fort Ann. Anyone who came in contact with Eric quickly learned that he would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Spending time with his family is what brought him the biggest smiles in life.

In addition to his parents, Eric is survived by his wife, Victoria Wemett (Rich); his daughters, Amanda Wemett and her boyfriend, Chris Dunbar, of Wells, Vermont and Megan Wemett of Fort Ann; a son, Johnathan Devlin of Glens Falls; and a grandson, Kayden Dunbar; four sisters, Deanna (Wayne) Trudsoe of Chestertown, Justina (James) Vetter of Jonesville, Alana (David) Clark of Schroon Lake and Holly (Richard) Hermance of Schroon Lake; one brother, Jeffrey (Tanya) Wemett of Chestertown; and his brother-in-law, Anthony Lydon of Glens Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank the ALS Regional Center of St. Peter’s Hospital, the Washington Center in Argyle, Empire Med Van that transported him for years and High Peaks Hospice Care for all the wonderful assistance provided for Eric.
