Speed a Factor in Two Fatal Sled Crashes in the Adirondacks

Area sledders, please, please be careful.

A 72-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman died in two separate snowmobile crashes this past weekend in the Adirondacks, the Associated Press Reports.

From The AP Report:

Webb police say 72-year-old Larry DeMarte, of Parma, failed to negotiate a curve on Sunday afternoon and flew off his vehicle into a creek. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports Demarte's snowmobile landed on top of him, trapping him underwater.

Authorities also say 46-year-old Michelle Wander crashed into a tree early Sunday while driving in an area between two lakes in Webb. Wander, of Clay. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
