10 Things You Need To Know about the 2019 Schroon Lake Ice Fishing Derby
/Anglers from all over the east coast, the North Country and Canada are expected at this weekend’s 29 Annual Schroon Lake Ice Fishing Derby. Good luck and be safe. Here’s what you need to know.
1. Where can I register this weekend?
Friday. Derby tickets go on sale this afternoon (Friday. March 1, 2019) at Flanagan’s from 5pm - 7pm. Tickets will also be available at the Fish and game Club starting at noon. Saturday: Registration opens at the Club House from 5 am - 10 am. PLEASE NOTE: No tickets will be available for purchase after Saturday at 10 am!
2. How much does it cost to enter?
Registration is $15.00 per person.
3. What Fish Can I catch to win a prize?
Lake Trout, Perch, Pickerel, Salmon and Pike. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be awarded based on weight for Lake Trout, Northern Pike and Salmon. Prizes for the heaviest Perch and Pickerel
4. What are the Hours?
Daylight Saturday to 4 pm Sunday.

6. Where can I eat? And Drink?
All of our Schroon Lake restaurants will be open. There’s also a fish fry dinner Saturday at the Club House for $15.00 a person. The Club bar is also open all weekend. Check out our Food section for some ideas. And for your non beer needs, there’s the Schroon Lake Wine and Liquor Store.
7. Can I purchase bait in Schroon?
Yes. Schroon Lake Bait & More is ready! Located at 1063 US Route 9 -- Schroon -- across Stewart's, will be open until 10 pm on Friday, Saturday from 3 am until 10 pm and Sunday 3 am until 4 pm. The store has a ton of bait supplies. Questions? Call 518-637-3490 or 518- 354-1468
8. My Other half is here with the kids. What can they do in Schroon?
Go ice-skating at our new rink. The Schroon Lake Library will be celebrating Dr. Seuss and his Birthday. Come one, come all, come celebrate at 12 noon. Hear a favorite Dr. Seuss story, make a craft, and enjoy refreshments. The movie Horton Hears a Who begins at 12:30. Saturday night: The movie Gosnell show at 7 pm the meeting room.
