The Raga Rage In Schroon

This Sunday the sounds of an Indian Flute, played by an American who has spent most of his life in France, will be heard in Schroon Lake. This, once again, proves Schroon is the cross roads of the world!

The event, featuring Etienne Rolin, takes place at the True North Yoga Studio at 4:30pm. Etienne is a talented musician who has travelled the globe, a phenomenal performer -- and my brother in law!.

He graced True North with live music at one of their yoga classes when his was visiting Schroon Lake from France a few summers ago. Now he is returning and has graciously offered to bring his Indian flutes back to the True North Yoga studio for an early evening of Raga.

Raga, which means "color" or "passion" in Sanskrit, is the melodic framework for improvisation within the classical musical styles of India. While Raga plays an important role in Indian music theory, it's real power is in its ability to tap into the energy of times of day or seasons of the year. It is believed this music can bring rain or start fires! Suggested donation: $5, but all are welcome!
