A 4th of July Schroon Tradition

Chicken BBQ - Version 2.jpg

Every July 4th morning, at around 9 am, there's a Schroon Laker tradition we always uphold. Seduced by the tempting aromas of barbecue chicken, our taste buds are drawn to the back yard of Community Church on the corner of Leland and Main Street, where the "Secret Club of Chicken Barbecue Masters", are fussing over the coals and marinated chicken.

We have witnessed the secret "mopping ceremony" presided over the Dave "Garage Mahal" Insull, which involves keeping the chicken moist and flavorful,  drenched with the secret marinade with a big mop, before it roasts to perfection over hot coals.

The menu consists of a half baked chicken, baked beans, a roll with butter, home made brownie with ice tea or lemonade, all for the incredible price of $9.00.

Foodie Tip: Get it Early -- this event sells out VERY EARLY!!! Available from 11am 'til sold out.
