From The Schroon Lake Chamber:

After 65 years, Schroon Lake will be taking a “pause” in its iconic Fourth of July Celebration.

The Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce announced on Memorial Day that they and Town leadership had made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 festivities.  Even as the State and Essex County begin to re-open, with current restrictions limiting the size of public gatherings and Department of Health requirements for social distancing and disinfecting, the day-long celebration in Schroon Lake that draws thousands to town presented far too many risks to public safety.

The choice was an agonizing one for event organizers. “Like all the other decisions made so far that greatly affect the way we'll be spending our summer this year, we know the cancellation of the Fourth of July Celebration is heartbreaking for Schroon Lake area residents, visitors, and especially our local businesses,” said Chamber executive director Sue Palisano. “In the end, keeping everyone safe and healthy to celebrate the Fourth in the coming years was our first – and only – concern.”
