A Gentle Ride For All Seasons: Chestertown's Circle B Ranch

If you are looking for a relaxing way to see more of the ‘Dacks back country, we can highly recommend Circle B Ranch, the experts in trial rides for all ages and abilities.

And this year Circle B has introduced “The Lonesome Dove Picnic Ride”, a three hour trail ride through rolling hills and the forestry of the ‘Dacks.

From Circle B:

“The scenery and experience is very special as you travel off the beaten path to the back country surrounding Circle B Ranch. Guests will enjoy about a one hour horseback ride from the starting point. Your guides will pack the lunches or snacks you have brought to be enjoyed at a secluded, tranquil area overlooking a lovely stream.   At this spot you will have time to relax and take in the beautiful, untouched surroundings or perhaps chat with your trail ride companions.  The choice is yours.

After resting at the stream, you will mount your horses and head back on a 1 hour ride to the ranch. Along the way you will pass through hickory, white birch and pine forests.  At your request, and if you're ready, your guide may also take you for a short, off the trail excursion, “bushwacking” where you and your horse will navigate off trail and get a feel for how Lewis and Clark must have felt stepping foot where no other man or horse had traveled before.

Your ride will be concluded back at the ranch but not before (weather permitting) you have the opportunity to view “The High Peaks” of NY's Adirondack Mountains.  On a clear day the tallest mountain, “Mt Marcy,“ can be seen among other high peaks 30 miles north!

Contact us via email for more detail or call the ranch today to reserve your Lonesome Dove Picnic Ride, (518) 494-4888.   Reservations must be confirmed”.

A Trip To A Buffalo Farm Kids Will Love

A trip to Adirondack Buffalo Company is a fun adventure everyone will enjoy. From Schroon it’s just a short skip and a jump to North Hudson, where you will actually see the wild Buffalo roam.

The Adirondack Buffalo Company is owned and operated by Doreen and Steve Ossenkop.  Their farm, nestled in the heart of the ‘Dacks, is home to a herd of about forty American Bison  (aka: Buffalo).

Once you arrive, you’ll park just steps from the large observation deck where you can see the entire herd. This past spring we saw many new calves. Kids of all ages will love this!
