From Schroon’s Own Weather Legend, Tony Tenda:

Forecast for this weekend's storm is finally coming together. Storm is currently over the Pacific Ocean, but will come ashore today and be subject to better weather data collection. Winter Storm Watches have been posted throughout the Northeast. This is not a typical coastal storm, but a storm called a SWFE, south west flow event. From my experience these type storms give the Adirondacks their best snows. Example of a SWFE, 2007 Valentine's Day Storm, 38". I would expect these snowfall maps to be adjusted the closer to Sat. we get.

Speed a Factor in Two Fatal Sled Crashes in the Adirondacks

Area sledders, please, please be careful.

A 72-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman died in two separate snowmobile crashes this past weekend in the Adirondacks, the Associated Press Reports.

From The AP Report:

Webb police say 72-year-old Larry DeMarte, of Parma, failed to negotiate a curve on Sunday afternoon and flew off his vehicle into a creek. The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports Demarte's snowmobile landed on top of him, trapping him underwater.

Authorities also say 46-year-old Michelle Wander crashed into a tree early Sunday while driving in an area between two lakes in Webb. Wander, of Clay. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In December we reported on the deaths of three sledders. You can read that story, by clicking here.
