Lake Safety For Youngsters

In a follow up to our story over the weekend about being safe on the water, we are pleased to alert our readers about an upcoming boat safety course to be held in Schroon Lake, specifically for young boaters.

It’s an eight hour course over two days on August 7th and 8th, sponsored by the Schroon Lake Association. It’s open to boaters aged between 10 and 16 years of age.

Its mandatory for anyone in New York State operating a Personal Water Craft  -- that would be a jet ski for example --  to have passed a boaters safety course. This is a free course offered by the SLA and donations will be greatly accepted.  Pre-registration is required and you can find out more by contacting Helen Wildman at 518-532-7734 or email her at redhouselpc@aol.com..

If you aren’t familiar with the fine work the SLA does to keep our beautiful lake so pristine, check out their website here. For details about becoming a member, click here.
