King Gets an Earful
/"They're coming home crying, Commissioner King, that's one of their experiences."
That was the blunt assessment from one parent about New York State’s controversial Common Core Curriculum, implemented by the New York Education Commissioner John King, who was in Schroon this past Tuesday at the Schroon Lake Central School.
King was in town for his last stop on what his office called a “listening tour”, getting feed back from parents and teachers and students, about the Common Core.plan, now in New York School.
At his side were Chancellor Merryl Tisch, Senator Betty Little, and Assemblyman Dan Stec.
King listened intently as another parent expressed her outrage:
"I encourage you as a leader of the Department of Education in New York State, to say to all of these parents, to say to this community, I'm sorry”, according to a report filed by YNN.
