Schroon Laker Rosemary T. Haroff: 1925 - 2013

This week we learned of the passing of Rosemary T. Haroff, a former Schroon Laker, who was an active member of the Schroon Lake Senior Citizens Center.

MATTOON, Ill. -- Rosemary T. Haroff, 88, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Nursing Home, Mattoon, Ill., with her family at her side.

Rosemary was born Wednesday, April 15, 1925, in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph E. and Anna Maloney Boone.

Rosemary was predeceased by the love of her life, Edward C. Haroff, on March 8, 2009; and by her brother, Joseph E. Boone, on March 31, 2010.

Rosemary, her parents and brother lived in Rosedale, N.Y. Rosemary graduated from Dominican Commercial High School, Class of 1943. Rosemary and Ed married March 30, 1946. They first resided in Springfield Gardens, N.Y., and in 1951 moved to Bethpage, N.Y. Rosemary worked as a secretary for Insular Chemical and Certified Preferred Concrete for many years before retiring. In 1977, Rosemary and Ed moved to Schroon Lake, N.Y., where they enjoyed their Adirondack retirement. They spent many years vacationing in Hawaii. In May 2011, Rosemary moved to Charleston, Ill., to spend more time with her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bill Force.

Rosemary and Ed were active members of Schroon Lake Senior Citizens Center Inc. starting in 1985. Rosemary was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church.

Rosemary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward T. and Linda A. Haroff of Schroon Lake, N.Y.; her daughter and son-in-law, (Betty) Elizabeth A. and William J. Force of Charleston, Ill.; her grandchildren, Heather A. Brinkerhoff, Robert E. Force, and William E. and his wife, Heidi Keller; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Merwin, Mallory Force, Charlotte Force and Farrah Force; her cousin, Catherine Hamel; her sister-in-law, Margaret Boone; her niece, Patricia Boone; and her nephew and his wife, Joseph and Shelia Boone.

Rosemary requested there be no calling hours.

Funeral services and internment will be conducted at the convenience of the family in the spring of 2014.
