SCHROON’S HUGE, ENORMOUS, AND GIGANTIC AND FUN CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION!

Schroon's  28th Annual Old Tyme Christmas Celebration kicks off at 10 am with the Friends of Schroon Lake Library Book Sale and the Community Church Bazaar, featuring local crafts.

The church will also be serving up a soup lunch.   Both events run ‘til 2pm.

From 12 noon  - until 8pm, it’s the Annual Holiday Gift Basket Raffle. Individuals and businesses have ponied up some super baskets, which surely will make great gifts for you or a chance to re-gift to others.  And the best part is that 100 per cent of monies raised go directly to benefit local area families through the Christmas Express program. Buy a bunch of tickets and feel good. And you don’t have to be present to win!

At 3:30 pm,  it’s the First Annual Crafters &  Underground Food Bazaar, in the Town Hall Meeting Room until 8pm.  Local crafters will be selling jewelry, ceramics, and hand-made knitted goods to name a few. On the food side there will be BBQ rubs, breads, sweet treats and more.

At 5:30 pm the real fun begins. The Town Christmas Tree will be lighted by Town Supervisor Mike Marnell, with Christmas Carol singing in the Town Park near the Fountain.

That’s the opening act for the Living Nativity Walk Procession to Our Lady of Lourdes Church  for a Gospel Reading. A short time later the Lighting of Memory Tree takes place in the Schroon Senior Center.

Then the countdown begins until 6pm, when Santa makes his arrival at the Strand Theater on a Fire Truck. He’ll be posing for photos and checking out everyone’s Christmas lists until 7:30 pm.

And there’s no shortage of music ‘round town. At the Community Church at  6:30 pm there’s a performance by  Schroon Lake Central Students. And at 7:30pm  it’s the Community Church Bell Choir. Over at  Joanie's Goodies you’ll find Mark Piper playing sets at 6:00 pm, 6:30 pm  and 7:00pm. At the Towne Store it’s Super Dave Insull, at 6:00pm,  6:30pm  and 7:00pm.

There’s also a bunch of ongoing activities and events from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The Senior Center will be serving cocoa, cookies and have  coloring for the kids. Take a Horse & Wagon Ride,  and check out Dan and Anna Hay's Petting Zoo at the Town Hall parking lot, where your youngsters can get up close and personal with a display from the Schroon Lake Volunteer Fire Department.

But wait – there’s more: A lot more!!!.  There will be a children’s art project and art gallery Open House at the Towne Store

Mr. P's Mountain Smokehouse and Shelby’s Kitchen Therapy are hosting a free Decorate a Cupcake  for kids 12 and under ($4 for bigger kids of any age!!!) and there will be a bunch of surprises over at the Morningstar Bistro, where a “Save the Strand”  Fundraising Raffle and  other cool events are planned. And there’s also Christmas Story Time at the recently opened Community Center at Joanie's Goodies.
