The Art of Giving in Schroon
/“The wishes are not extravagant,” Patti told Schroon Laker. “It’s simple things like underwear, socks, gloves and warm jackets. Anybody who can help out, we are grateful.”
The names and “wishes” are collected from Schroon Lake Central School. After taking a “WISH”, each unwrapped gift should be dropped back off as soon as possible, but no later than Wednesday, December 18, 2013.
The Express organizers also take donations of wrapping paper and Scotch tape, ribbons and bows.
You can also give by buying raffle tickets for the annual basket raffle, part of Schroon’s Olde Tyme Christmas Celebration at Chamber of Commerce Office
Next Saturday -- December 14th -- between 12 noon and 8 pm buy some raffle tickets for some great baskets. Proceeds go to fulfill all the remaining Christmas wishes, says Tammy Leinhart, coordinator of Christmas Express.
“As the December 18 deadline approaches, Patti goes and collects all the remaining ‘wishes’ still left on the trees, and purchases every item, insuring every wish is fulfilled, “Leinhart said.
Money will also be raised at a Bake Sale at the Underground Food & Craft Bazaar the night of the Christmas Celebration, from 3:30pm – 8 pm at the Town Hall. And you may even see Holiday Cans for Cash donations located at numerous area businesses.
And if you can’t make it here, your checks will happily be accepted. Mail them to Christmas Express, 276 Alder Meadow Rd, Schroon Lake, NY 12870.
