SATURDAY FEBRUARY 23: SCHROON'S BIG DAY OUT!

While it might be a little grey and dreary outside, there's is a lot happening in town today that is guaranteed to lift your spirits. Right now the 2nd Annual Schroon Lake Chili Cook Off is getting underway at the Fish and Game Club.

A record 15 chilis will be featured, from home cooks, area restaurants and four local Fire rescue and EMT Squads. The event runs from 11:30am until 2 pm. There's an open bar, 50-50 raffle as well as chair massages from Bella Donna from Schroon Lake's Massage and Wellness Center, in exchange for a donation to the Schroon Lake EMS squad.

And while you are at the cook off, you most likely will meet some of the riders from the Schroon Lake North Hudson Snow Mobile Club's Annual Poker Run. The Fish and Game Club is one of the stops along the ride, which also includes The Timberwolf Pub, Stewarts, The Black Bear Restaurant, Sportys in Minerva, DeCesares Pizza, Nice N Easy, Witherbee's, Mt Severance Gas Station, Flanagan's and Dave Whitty's shop on Route 74.

Over at the Library there's a Used Book Sale from 10-12 pm in the basement of the health center. For more info call 532-7737 x13.
