Community gardeners and some Word of Life Bible Institute volunteers worked up a sweat getting the Community Garden ready for the season this passed Saturday.
With the big tree removed courtesy of Town Supervisor Mike Marnell, all the beds will enjoy favorable sunshine this year.
Diane Leah did a great job selling plants that were supplied by Green Thumb nursery to raise funds for the garden's 3rd season. All plots have been adopted again this year, and we have some new gardeners this time around.
The Central School art teacher Brie Rosencranz designed a great mural for the wall across from the school. Special thanks go out to Curtis Lumber who donated some of the paint and for Julie Sawyers and Jim Bohleber who prepped the wall with primer. Brie and her students made quite a bit of progress on Saturday and will finish up as schedules permit. Saturday was prom night, so we are grateful for the students who took the time to participate on such an important evening.
Dan and Cathy Riggins took on the post office area and did some weeding and sprucing up of the plants that were installed last spring. We are grateful for their help and attention to that central area of our town.
