RIP: Jack Dyson

From The Post-Star: NEW PALTZ — John S. “Jack” Dyson, 86, of New Paltz, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Mountain View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Paltz.

Mr. Dyson was born July 18, 1928, in Wappingers Falls, the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Loop) Dyson. He married Joline E. Weir on July 12, 1980, in Peru.

Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 47 during post-WWII years and was a proud member of the 24th Infantry Division Association. Jack collected toy cars and trucks that literally filled a room in the house.

He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He was a life member of the BPOE in Beacon, Ticonderoga and New Paltz. He was a life member of the Beacon Engine Fire Company. He was also a member of the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club and the “LLABTOOF” Club, attending many Giants games across the country over the years.

Jack was employed by Texaco Research Lab in Glenham for more than 40 years until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Joline E. Dyson; one daughter, Pamela A. Faulds and her husband, Timothy, of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Rebecca Sela and her husband, David, of Northampton, Massachusetts, Emily Ivansheck and her husband, Zachary, and their children, Owen and Harper, of Horseheads, and SSG Colin Faulds of Fort Lewis, Washington; his stepdaughters, Cheryl A. White of Sulphur Springs, Lisa J. Mazzei and her husband, Stephen, and their children, Christopher and Ashley of New Paltz; two stepsons, Patrick R. White of Shelbyville, Kentucky, and Garry M. White of Milton and his children, Nicole of Milton, Crystal of Beacon, and her children, James and Chloe.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Dyson and Jeanne Alesio.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at Copeland Funeral Home Inc., 162 S. Putt Corners Road, New Paltz. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
