Recognizing Who Makes Schroon Richer

Tuesday marks the deadline for nominees of the greater Schroon Lake area Person or Organization of 2014. Over at the Schroon Lake Facebook Page, hosted by Pastor David Peterson, readers have suggested a few nominees.

From Georgia Knickerbocker-Burkhardt:  “How about Helen Need from the Timberwolf? She drives people that she doesn't even know home if they have too much to drink. She makes Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for folks who don't have any place to go for the holidays and she does it out of kindness”.

And from Lillian Lang: “How about Curtis McCoy for all the years he has been a scout leader and how he has taught the boys to become who they are”.

Rosemarie Ritson, who recently retired from her position at the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce was also mentioned, but she is a previous winner.  Do you know of a deserving individual or organization? Hurry and get your nomination in.

From the Chamber:

"Nominations for the 2014 award should include the accomplishments for which this person or organization should be honored. Please provide details of the achievements, volunteer endeavors, community service, efforts to improve the quality of life, and personal characteristics that you believe qualify the nominee as Citizen of the Year. The nominee need not be a Chamber of Commerce member, but must reside in the Town of Schroon, North Hudson, Paradox, or Severance.

Any individual or organization may submit a nomination via email to chamber@SchroonLakeChamber.org. Please include your name and contact information in the email. All nominations must be received by May 13, 2014. Call the Chamber office at (518) 532-7675 for more information".
