On Father's Day I had the pleasure of taking a very different type of bike ride with fitness instructor Wendy Ryan.
The 45-minute bike ride included a beautiful view, uphill, down hill, cruising and sprinting -- without the hassle of any traffic -- accompanied by energizing music that kept me and my fellow riders hot, sweaty, happy, rockin' and a rollin'.
Welcome to Schroon Cycling! What I just described was a super "spin" class which took place in Wendy Ryan's neat-as-a-pin work out space, which also doubles as garage. Yes, the garage has three windows with amazing lake views.
Wendy, a full time Schroon Laker and a fitness instructor for nearly 20 years, has married her love for Schroon with her passion for cycling and fitness, by creating a new business that we can all share in: rain, hail, snow or shine!
For the next 10 days, you can take a ride in the safety and comfort of her temporary cycling studio. Here's how it works: There are seven bikes for riders and classes are daily, either at 9 am or 6 pm depending on how many people reserve a spin bike. There must be a minimum of two spinners per class.
Soon, Schroon Cycling will move into the gym at Schroon Lake Central School. Classes will be held at 9am, Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.
But here's the best part, whether you are new to spinning or like me, just want to get back into it, your first class is FREE. And to really get you going - any class you take in that same week is FREE! The regular price schedule is $5 per class or $30 per month for unlimited rides!
So come on, let's get going! For reservations and more info email Wendy here: firstname.lastname@example.org. A Facebook page and website are in the works.
