It takes a lot to surprise Joel Friedman.
Behind that big smile, is a laid back, very jovial guy, who always seems so happy, so even keel. But Joel’s world was kind of rocked, in a good way, when he learned he was being honored by the Schroon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, as the 2014 Citizen of The Year.
Joel says he was even unaware that the nominees were being sought for the award. "It wasn't even on my radar. I was shocked, this was totally unexpected," Joel told Schroon Laker.
“There are so many here who do so much who deserve this award, who need to be recognized, so I am glad there’s this award. I am incredibly honored to be receiving this, it truly means a lot to me,” Joel said.
As we previously reported, Joel’s brother Roger, and their father Moe, were previous winners of the Award. Friends, family and Schroon Lakers are invited to attend a dinner honoring Joel at a dinner at Drake’s Restaurant next Tuesday, June 17. Tickets are available for $25 per person. For details, please contact the Schroon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at (518) 532.7675 or by emailing email@example.com.
