Folk lovers are in for a special treat tonight when Jay Unger and Molly Mason take center stage at the Boathouse Theatre.

The duo are part of a special series of high profile, internationally known acts, that the Schroon Lake Arts Council is bringing here for their summer concert series.

Jay and Molly have become one of the most celebrated duos on the American acoustic music scene.

“I am very excited that we can bring Jay and Molly to Schroon,” Jack Osborne, from the Arts Council told Schroon Laker.

“To have such an act of this import here, will be a treat for all music lovers.”

The duo’s consummate musicianship, and incomparable warmth and wit have delighted audiences worldwide, said Jack.

They have been featured on A Prairie Home Companion, have their own public radio program “Dancing on the Air”, on WAMC's Northeast Network, and have performed on film soundtracks such as Legends of the Fall and Brother's Keeper.

But it is their work on Ken Burn's Civil War PBS mini-series, they may be best known for and the series' signature tune: Jay's haunting composition of Ashokan Farewell.

The soundtrack won a Grammy and Ashokan Farewell was nominated for an Emmy. Watch them perform Ashokan Farewell in our 2014 Music and Arts Scene, by clicking here.
