While many folks only know Schroon Lake as a paradise for all things fishing and water sports related, it once played a large roll in the logging industry. In particular, logs floated from the north via Schroon River, hit the lake, then made their way south to Glens Falls. You'll hear about that and more, Monday night at the Schroon-North Hudson Historical Society. Below shows a photo featuring s steamboat on Schroon-- in the off season before the tourist arrived-- as it moved logs south.
