The chill is in the air, fireplaces all over are getting a workout and despite the occasional boat still on the lake, it feels like the holiday and ski season is finally here.

Just days away is Thanksgiving, and area businesses are gearing up. Pinecone Mercantile and Northwoods Bread Co. are hosting a pop up salad and veggie market with the folks from Juniper Hill Farm. They will be at Pinecone’s Main Street store on Wednesday, from 10 am to 4 pm, with farm fresh potatoes, onions, garlic, sweet potatoes, squash, salad greens, and more.

There will also be a fine selection of cheeses from area dairy farms and the now famous breads and baked goodies from Edward and Lisa, which you can order in advance, by clicking here.

And today there’s a bumper crop of baked gods:  Sourdough, Caraway Rye, Pain Normand and Whole Wheat. Chef Lisa has whipped up Cranberry/Orange Scones, Apple Cider Donut Mini Muffins and Mini Triple Chocolate Cookies.

In addition they are selling $1 stuffing bread, whie supplies last. Bazinga!

Meanwhile, we have receieved word from Rowes Cabins that Santa and his elves are setting up his workshop.
