Calling All Schroon Green Thumbs
/A huge hat tip to the folks that keep on making Schroon great. The Schroon Lake Community Garden is in tip top shape, thanks to an enthusiastic group of volunteers. There's a plant sale this weekend and a few plots left. More, from Tammy Whitty-Brown, the executive director of the Schroon Lake Chamber of Commerce:
"The Community Garden is coming along nicely thanks to the hard work of volunteers such as our NEW Garden Coordinator Staci O'Donnell, along with Mark Piper, Pete Johnson, Mike Marnell, Lance Gould Sr., Patrick Shaughnessy, Curtis Lumber Staff (they donated and cut board for new garden boxes) and Craig Maisonville.
To celebrate the opening of our Community Garden, we will be holding our ANNUAL PLANT SALE this coming Saturday, June 3rd from 10 am to 1 pm at the Garden on Main Street (located between GF National Bank and Higher Ground Coffee Shop). There will be potted veggies, flowers and hanging baskets available.
The plant sale is open ot the public and all proceeds from the sale benefits the upkeep of the Community Garden. We also encourage the public to come and walk our gardens (Please do not pick the produce).
We have a few remaining plots available for the 2017 Growing Season. Cost is $15 a plot. For more information please email or call Staci at staciod@gmail.com or 518-366-9111."
