Lisa Hess Marks, proprietor of Pine Cone Mercantile, is the featured speaker in the third video to help raise awareness of the challenges faced by many Schroon Lake businesses in the pandemic. The Schroon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has produced the videos as part of a fundraising effort to keep local businesses afloat. You can watch all three videos, by clicking here.

From Lisa:

“Like every other small business in America ,COVID-19 has had a major impact on how we do business. Everything is geared toward what the community needs now and then we can get back to a little bit of normal later, but right now we’re here for you and to make here to make a safe and welcoming environment to welcome you back. creativity in rethinking business is how we are all getting through this right now”.

Lisa and her baker husband Edward, the genius behind those delicious treats  at North Woods Bread Co., have good news to share: they have been working overtime getting the store ready to receive customers this Friday. Congrats.

More from the Chamber about the fundraiser:

“Many of you have asked how the money raised from the Schroon Lake Cares campaign will be distributed. Our primary focus is the support of Chamber members from the retail, restaurant and lodging sectors who are most affected by the loss of summer tourism. The Chamber's Fundraising Committee identified a list of 42 eligible member businesses who were each contacted and asked to opt in or out based on the criteria established, including the fact that **funds would be equally distributed among recipients**. While there may be some differences between businesses, they are all local, small merchants. Equal distribution of funds eliminates making a judgment as to whether one business deserves more funding than another, and why. A total of 28 member businesses opted in to the campaign. Funds are being deposited into a discretionary account at Glens Falls National Bank and will be distributed in late July. #schroonlakecares
